The Ice Dam Remover?
The Ice Dam Remover is a patent pending electric blanket formed by a custom high wattage self-regulating heating cable delivering 100 watts per square foot. The Ice Dam Remover also includes an insulating blanket, a placement harness, and pole mount (pole not included) that can be used for lifting The Ice Dam Remover to the roof.

How Does it Work?
When The Ice Dam Remover is placed on the ice dam it melts through the ice (~2”/hour @ 15℉) leaving circular columns and channels in the ice to allow the water trapped behind the ice dam to escape. When the heater has melted down through and reaches the surface of the roof the heat separates the ice columns from the roof allowing the ice columns to be removed. Alternatively, you may choose to allow The Ice Dam Remover to remain in place until the columns themselves have melted away.
